

Alternative Spring Break Service Trip - TRIP IS FILLED
Students will participate in a 4 day, 3 night service trip to Washington, DC
We will be staying at the Caravan Hostel, Washington, DC in the Adams Morgan neighborhood.
Trip Focus: Supporting Food Insecurity and Community Development in Washington, D.C. This volunteer experience centers on addressing food insecurity and fostering community development by collaborating with local nonprofits dedicated to empowering underserved populations.
Service Sites and Project Descriptions:
- Bread for the City
Project: Food Pantry Assistance
Volunteers will assist in Bread for the City's Food Pantry, helping clients select food items, restocking shelves, bagging groceries, and preparing produce. This hands-on experience directly supports individuals and families facing food insecurity in D.C.

2. Charlie's Place
Project: Meal Service and Support
At Charlie's Place, volunteers will contribute to meal preparation and service for individuals experiencing homelessness. Additional tasks may include distributing clothing, assisting with case management services, and engaging with clients to provide a welcoming environment.
3. Little Lights
Project: Youth Development Programs
Volunteers will participate in afterschool programs such as Homework Club, Reading Heroes, or Math Heroes, providing academic support and mentorship to children and youth in public housing communities. This role involves tutoring, organizing activities, and fostering positive relationships to empower young students.

Students will have time to socialize and relax in the evenings.
Transportation from campus to DC and back is included along with all meals and sleeping accommodations.
Cost: $70 (includes service fees)
This trip is being subsidized by the Frank and Emilie Wood Robinson Community Service Endowment.
Registration fee is non-refundable.
